Assistant Sales and Bid Channel Manager
Job Summary
As the job title indicates, the Solar Assistant Sales and Bid Channel Manager is a full time position with a broad range of responsibilities in two areas. This individual will assist the sales department with the full range of sales activities with a focus on creating new sales tools, creating and administering sales programs and identifying and implementing sales process improvements. This position will also work on developing, maintaining and analyzing key performance indicators within the sales department. As necessary, this person will conduct classic sales activities such as prospecting, conducting site assessments and sales calls.
The sales and bid manager will also be charged with heading the sales component of Third Sun's bid channel business. In this role, the sales and bid manager will search for public and private bid solicitations using the internet, Third Sun's network of contacts including new contacts developed and maintained by this manager. This person will work with the operations and finance teams to develop pricing and design strategies. The employee will analyze and prepare responses to RFPs and RPQs attend pre and post-bid meetings and prepare project schedules. This manager will master project costing, the competitive environment and be responsible for project compliance from the award until the project is under contract. This manager will be responsible for creating, maintaining and analyzing bid channel records such as win/loss percentages and competitive information, as well as maintain and grow a library of specifications.
Prior experience identifying and responding to RFPs and RFQs helpful. Prior successful sales experience

Project Developer/Sales, North Coast Territory
Job Summary
This position sells services and products using technical, organizational, and customer knowledge to influence customers and assist them in applying the products/services to their needs resulting in revenue generation. In addition the position provides input and participates in the marketing, market planning, and technical development of products and services. This position also provides client consultation; gathers information, specifications and detail from clients; and planning for installation by evaluating and preparing designs, specifications, and cost and feasibility estimations for proposed projects.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES/ACTIVITIES:
- Field initial inquiries from potential customers
- Develop and maintain contacts leading to sales opportunities
- Work with clients to develop renewable energy solutions optimized for each client's application. This may involve customer education, remote site assessments and on-site facility surveys as necessary.
- Design RE systems in coordination with Third Sun engineers, the customer and any required consultants such as architects or contractors.
- Develop and deliver project proposals and estimates.
- Assist with project permitting tasks as necessary.
- Respond to customer concerns, questions and information needs.
- Perform consultant work for Duke Energy and other specified clients.
- Perform technical site visits as necessary
- Represent Third Sun at seminars, conferences, trade-shows and other marketing and promotional events.
- Give public and private presentations on wind and solar energy technology.
- Maintain comprehensive understanding of renewable energy systems applicable in our service territory.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or GED (Associate or Bachelor degree in technical field preferred)

Customer service oriented and ability to work with a customer centered design approach.

Strong organizational skills and an ability to juggle multiple projects/tasks.

Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.

Knowledge and experience in designing and installing solar/PV or wind power systems preferred; also a commitment to learning and keeping up with product technology changes, improvements and innovations.

Proficiency in use of computers and Microsoft applications, especially Excel and spreadsheets and Quickbooks.

Knowledge of or ability to learn CAD or other drafting program.

Knowledge and experience with the National Electric Code.

Knowledge of building codes and good construction practices.

Installation Technician
Job Summary -
Under the direction of the Project manager, the Installation Technician completes project installations, equipment service, shop and vehicle maintenance. Project installations include a wide variety of tasks such as concrete and general construction techniques, assembly of mechanical systems such as panel racking and mounting panels, constructing DC and AC electrical systems, and other construction type work as needed.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES
- Lifting, moving, installing, and functions requiring physical labor. Not limited to cleaning, packing, operating company vehicles, climbing onto and working on roofs. Work is generally performed in good weather but work in inclement weather is required from time to time and as needed.
- Operate machinery and equipment as required for job completion.
- Assures the Project Manager is informed of any possible safety issues.
- Assures proper materials are used at every step of the installation process.
- Questions any instruction that might be ambiguous or unclear.
- Assures best possible representation of Third Sun with client.
- Adheres to Third Suns highest code of conduct and job performance.
- Assure projects are completed on time by taking personal initiative and interest in the project.
Minimum Requirements -
Education - High School degree or equivalent
Experience - Minimum of six months to one year of construction, electrical, commercial or residential photovoltaics, or applicable technical field work.
Specialized Knowledge - Experience with construction, renewable energy, and/or commercial or residential photovoltaic's is preferred
Additional Qualifications - Must have (1) strong verbal and written communication skills that will allow them to express the key points in a clear manner both within the organization and to outside (2) willingness and ability for 2 to 4 nights of weekly overnight travel, (3) ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments, and (4) ability to lift heavy objects up to 75 lbs. (5) able to work in extreme conditions (including heights over 100 feet in variable weather and confined spaces, and (6) ability to operate hand and power tools (7) Ability to qualify for drug alcohol free work place Policies including annual and random testing.

Project Manager
Job Summary
Manages, coordinates, and oversees project and installations operations. Monitors projects for efficiency; quality and safety; and ensures that all organizational standards and applicable regulatory requirements are met.
Major Responsibilities/Activities
- Reviews job budget, scope and project details with Engineering Manager - for example, reviewing job budget, scope, project details, customer information, documents preparation, etc.
- Works directly with Engineering Manager to prepare submittal documents and secure appropriate permits.
- Assists in the selection of subcontractors
- Issues shop work and service call orders
- Reviews and prepares complete job package details and specifications and verifies for accuracy
- Selects installation crews to fulfill project installations, as well as follow up work and customer walk through
- Prepares job review reports and approves payments to subcontractors
- Assists Sales department with Bid proposal, Leads bid documents, and sales opportunities via competitive and open public bid opportunities.
- Monitors bid success rate and failure rate and compiles reports containing reason for success or failure.
- Approves inventory requisitions
- Issues purchase orders, checks lead time and schedules expected arrival dates
- Completes additional duties and assignments as directed by the Director of Operations
Minimum Requirements -
Education - Undergraduate degree in Business, Engineering or a related
Experience - Minimum of 5 years related and progressive experience in commercial or residential construction management with a minimum of two years in related project development management, drafting, architecture, and design and/or project management.
Specialized Knowledge - Experience with logistics management, supply side specification, and renewable energy products and processes is required.
Additional Qualifications - The incumbent must have (1) strong verbal and written communication skills that will allow them to express the key points in a clear manner both within the organization and to outside (2) a self starter who has the ability to work independently as required to support the groups objectives, while at the same time understand the importance of pacing the appropriate change,
(3) Strong ethics and values which support the organizations goals and foster the appropriate culture, (4) understanding of and commitment to world class safety and environmental processes (5) Ability to qualify for drug alcohol free work place policies including annual and random testing.
